From John Brooking   19 April 1887

Baron Mueller

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your two letters 20/3-87 & 3/4/871 with reference to the first, I have handed it to Mr King, who is again going to the Eastward, about the head of the Murchison2 and work to the Southward, and requested him to supply all the information he can, collect specimens &c of the plants you require[.]3 I have no doubt but that he will be able to obtain some with reference to the other I will endeavour to get the information you require as to the Acacia in the vicinity of Geographe Bay4

I am anxious to give information to new comers here about the numerous poison plants found in this colony I believe that you have published descriptions of them but I am unable to find any copy of your work in the colony I should be glad if you will give me the botanical name of the different plants known locally as — York Road poison — Box poison, Heart leaf poison — narrow leaf poison — Bloom poison — Rock poison & Berry poisons These will be well known to you but I have sent a few specimens of the leaves of those that I have now in the office
