From Joseph Maiden    11 May 1887

11th May [188]71

Dear Baron Mueller,

I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th instant.2

I have applied to the Minister of Public Instruction for a free pass for Mr Bauerlen as far as Bourke and back, and available from the middle of July to the end of October.

As to writing letters to squatters and others on behalf of Mr Bauerlen, I would gladly write them if I knew to whom to write. I am making enquiries, but have not heard as yet.3

I enclose copy of a letter I sent to Mr Bauerlen for his southern trip, probably a similar one from you, and one from me, would help him in the north west.4

Yours truly,

J. H. Maiden.
