Best thanks, noble friend, for the beautiful new contribution that you so masterfully have produced again for the algology of Australia.2 It must be a great pleasure even for you to see more and more your name and your admired and unforgettable father's,3 which I myself wrote on the algae paper of species of the North Sea and Baltic from my own collection since 1840, connected with the marine flora of Australia. It is an infinite pleasure to me that you have also restored my Codia again,4 and the nestor Kützing, who still names desmids for me and for whom we certainly all wish an age of Chevreul,5 is also brought a well-deserved pleasure because of this. Life does have so many cares and sorrows that everyone must be glad to contribute to the pleasure of others.
In this spring several members of the "Field Naturalists Club", whose Patron I am, will travel at my instigation to King Island so that contributions of algae are also expected from there.6
Respectfully your

Carl Adolf Agardh.
Codium muelleri, named by Friedrich Kützing in M's honour in 1856. See Agardh (1873-90), part 5, pp. 42-3; Agardh also lists M as collector or transmitter of other species seen by him in the treatment of the genus, pp. 35-47.
Kützing did not achieve the 103 years of Chevreul, but he did live to the age of 86.
If any algae were collected, they were not listed in the report of the expedition (Campbell (1888)), or later.
