To Edward Ramsay1    October 1887

Private

Oct 1887

The distribution of Gov. Publications here takes place only through the public Library, on approval of the hon the Premier. If therefore any of my works should be desired by you for the Museum-Library there, it would be best to write a letter to Dr Bride, the Librarian of the public Library of Melbourne, who doubtless would at once attend to your wishes. I am largely purchasing my own works on my private expense, but my means are too slender to distribute them so extensively as I would like.2

Filed with this letter is one from T. F. Bride to Ramsay, 15 October 1887, forwarding on behalf of the Government of Victoria a copy of B87.13.04, Decades 1-4. Ramsay annotated the letter: 'Sent to me for my private library by Baron Mueller's request Ed. P. R. | P.S. Baron Mueller usually sends me his publications on plants in return for assistance & my own publications & has done so for many years— Ed. P. R.'
The text ends without valediction at the bottom of the page, suggesting that at least one sheet is missing.
