To Alexander Macdonald   15 December 1887

Thursday

I am sorry to hear dear Mr Macdonald, that you are suffering from sciatic pain; it is a great trouble, but I trust it will soon pass off.

Best thanks for the cheque of £8. I will see Mr Sayer about this account of his, I did not know it was so much when he returns from East Gippsland.1 The Honorable John Forrest arrived from Tasmania a little before midnight on Tuesday,2 and I went to the wharf to receive him. He will be less than a week here. Would Monday afternoon be convenient to you, to have a Council-meeting? I could then let him know timely, so that he may be free at that particular hour.

Regardfully

your

Ferd. von Mueller

Vic. Sayer collected for M in East Gippsland in 1887.
Forrest arrived in Melbourne aboard ‘Flinders’ on Tuesday 13 December 1887; see Argus, 14 December 1887, p. 6.
