The plant from the snowy mountains,1 dear Mr Deane, is Scleranthus biflorus; the little rubiaeceous weed is Sherardia arvensis, L., introduced from Britain or perhaps S. Europe
I have hardly the material for the plate of Acacia pruinosa complete; should you happen to pass the plant, kindly send of such rarity a little more.2
I fear, the tour during Easter, hoped for to Mt Seaview, will remain unaccomplished.3
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller
Acacia pruinosa
Scleranthus biflorus;
Sherardia arvensis
Snowy Mountains, NSW.
M had asked for fruiting specimens in M to H. Deane, 23 February 2024; see notes thereto.
M had been urging an expedition to Mt Seaview, in northern NSW, for some time; see, for example, M to Linnean Society of New South Wales, March 1887 (in this edition as 87-03-00c), and M to E. Ramsay, 18 March 1887. But see notes to M to H. Deane, 12 October 1888, for M's already in 1884 urging J. H. Maiden to visit.
