Geehrter Herr.

L. Brown Esqr. of this place hat sehr viele verloren. Gefällige Antwort entgegensehend

Esteemed Sir.

With this mail I venture to send you a plant for whose definition I would like to kindly ask you. It is generally accepted here that it is this plant that poisons so many sheep, so that particularly hungry sheep that are not used to this pasture die in large numbers within 20 minutes after eating. L. Brown Esqr. of this place has lost very many. Anticipating a helpful answer

Your respectful

R. Camerer.

Vic. MS annotation by M: 'via Ballarat'.

Found with a specimen of Chamaesyce drummondii (MEL 2178965). MS annotation by M: 'Answ. 14/4/88'; letter not found.
