[Die Gattung Donatia Forst. hat ähnliche Tracht wie Phyllachne § Helophyllum. […] [The genus Donatia Forst. has similar habit as Phyllachne § Helophyllum. [...] It was until now placed in the Saxifragaceae. Baron Ferdinand von Mueller kindly informed me, however, that according to his opinion, which he has already expressed many times previously, it decidedly belongs to the Candolleaceae. Candolleaceae
Donatia
Phyllachne section Helophyllum
Abbreviation for Candolleaceae.
The passage continues with Schönland's arguments for considering Donatia not to be a genus within Candolleaceae. M's arguments for the transfer are made in B73.04.02, p. 41.
Letter not found. The text given here is from Schönland (1894), p. 13. The chapter was printed in May 1889; M's letter must have been written before August 1888 since he had had a response to it when, in M to A. Engler, 16 August 1888, he reported that Schönland could not believe that Donatia should be moved from Saxifrageae to Candolleaceae. The latest that M could have written to England and received a reply by August is mid-May, and the letter is dated accordingly. Schönland's letter not found.
