To Alexander Crawford   3 May 1888

3/5/88.

It is really most kind of you, dear Mr Crawford, the manner in which you exert yourself on behalf of my Department. Thus then let me thank you for the valuable resin of Eucalyptus maculata, just received. My "Key" to the system of Vict plants1 is not yet out, but when it does appear, you shall get a copy.

The block of wood has also safely come. Amidst the enormous pressure of work just now, so much augmented by the duties for the Exhibition,2 I forgot what species of wood it is, and mislaid your former letter

The byefollowing little book will be worth your carrying about, as no one is safe against accidents, and you and your friends must often be far away from any medical aid3

Regardfully

your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Your note on Andropogon pertusus most interesting.
