To Ebenezer Thomas   4 July 1888

4/7/88

As the 9th, 10th & 11th Decade of the Acacias are just ready, dear Mr Thomas, I hope your honorable Chief will kindly allow then to go out in continuation of former sendings.1

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

W. Sewell, Acting in Thomas’s place as Secretary to the Premier, referred M's letter to the Government Printer on 13 July 1888, saying that ‘The Premier approves; the distribution to be made, as before, through the Public Library'. On 9 August 1888 the Librarian informed Sewell that ‘The Decades have been distributed as desired'. The file was then sent to T. Wilson, Under-Secretary, Chief Secretary's Department, who forwarded it to M for his information on 17 August.

M minuted in reply: 'Returned with best thanks and with a solicitation, that Decades 12 and 13, which meanwhile got ready and complete the main portion of the work, may also be sent out | Ferd. von Mueller | 20/8/88'. Wilson returned the file to Sewell on 23 August endorsing M's request about the distribution of the later decades. This was also approved and the Librarian notified on 13 September 1888.
