Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne, 1888-9.
The report of the Trustees of the Public Library, Museums, and National Gallery of Victoria, for 1888, referred to this proposal:
Whenever additional space can be provided it is proposed to give special prominence to the specimens of economic botany, and to rearrange the collections so that information concerning the vegetable products of Australia and their uses may be more easily obtained than is now possible. The Trustees have received valuable suggestions from Baron von Mueller on the details of this change, which will be duly considered when they are able to rearrange the technological collections (Victoria Parliamentary Paper No. 59, 1889, p. 4).
