From Ferdinand von Mueller to Henry Deane   10 Nov 1888

10/11/88.

I shall be obliged, dear Mr Deane, to lay aside any critical work on plants, which is always of some length, til the Exhibition-duties,1 which additionally tax my time, have come to an end; specially also — as after completing the work for "Key" I2 and the 7th Edit. of the "Select plants",3 much arrear-work has accumulated in the Department. Thus you must allow me, to lay your interesting Grevillea aside for a while; — moreover it could only be delt with finally, after the fruit has been obtained.

Speaking of the two new works, both very inexpensive, let me say, that they are not distributed through my Department, as all Gov. publications are presented only by direct order from the hon. the Premier through the public Library here. I should think it likely, that some Sydney Bookseller will send for copies of both works.

Regardfully

your
