To John Duthie   28 November 1888

28/11/881

Accept my best thanks, dear Mr Duthie, for your splendid treatise on the grasses of N.W. India and for the instructive and faithful plates, accompanying the work.2 Though too late now for being used to benefit the 7th Edit. of the “Select plants,3 I trust to utilize them for the next Edition, should merciful providence spare my life so long, as to bring yet out an other Edition. Most valuable and reliable data will thus be obtained, traced accurately to the plants concerned.

Though finally printed in October, the “select plants” (7th Edit.) will only be bound ready in December, when I will be happy to send you an impression

Regardfully

your

Ferd. von Mueller
