Collection number duplicated; no Holtze specimen with that collecting number is listed for MEL in AVH and no Holtze Ophiurus of any date has been found.

Undated fragment. MEL does not hold specimens with record numbers, 936, 938, 939, 972 and 974. The specimens with the remaining record numbers at MEL carry an 1889 date, with no details of the month (AVH, accessed 2 June 2022). The next highest number in Holtze's sequence, 986, was included in the large set sent near the end of April 1890 (see M. Holtze to M, 24 April 1890), and specimens in that set are dated 1890. The size of that consignment, and M's reaction to it in M to M. Holtze 16 May 1890, makes it unlikely that other collections were sent earlier in 1890, and this item is therefore dated to 1889.
