From Ferdinand von Mueller to Thomas Bride   23 Mar 1889

23/3/89

Lately, dear Dr Bride, I received a magnificent volume in large quarto, with numerous lithographic plates, from the heirs of Dr Engelmann of St. Louis, comprising the lifelong researches of this distinguished observer of N. Amer. plants.1 I am bound to make a return-sending. Suppose, I presented this volume of my departed friend to the public Library, could you undertake to forward early an equivalent in some of my own illustrated works?2

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Engelmann (1887).

MS annotation: 'Yes'. For reply see T. Bride to M, 11 April 1889 (in this edition as 89-04-11b). The volume is still held by the State Library of Victoria.
