Bitte, senden Sie das Buch von Gesängen nicht zurück, noch dasjenige, welches ich gestern vor dem Anlang Ihres jetzigen Schreibens absandte. Sie werden diese Bücher als passende Geburtstages- oder Weihnachts- Geschenke gelegentlich benutzen können.

The little plant from the well,1 dear Mr Tepper, is Lemna trisulca, a cosmopolitan species. The fruits of Lemna oligorrhiza are not yet known. Please, do not send the book of songs back, nor those that I sent off yesterday before the arrival of your present letter.2 You will be able to use these books as suitable birthday or Christmas presents at some time.
