Vor einigen Monaten, edler Freund, ersuchte mich einer Ihrer Professorial Collegen dort, ihm Früchte von Coniferen zu senden für eine grössere vergleichende Carpologie dieser Pflanzen. Der Brief ist verlegt während der Extraarbeiten, die sich mehrfach auf mich drängten in den letzteren Monaten, so dass ich mir erlaube, was ich in dieser Hinsicht liefern kann, an Sie direct zu adressiren, mit der Bitte es Ihrem akademischen Freunde zustellen zu wollen.

Some months ago, noble Friend, one of your professorial colleagues there asked me to send him fruits of conifers for a larger comparative carpology of these plants.1 The letter was mislaid during the extra work that mounted up on me repeatedly in the last few months, so that I venture to address to you directly what I can supply in this respect, with the request to deliver it to your academic friend.
