Grösse von U. exoleta, aber Charactere in einiger Beziehung eher von U. flexuosa. Es mag eine neue Art sein, aber ohne Früchte mit reifen Samen lassen sich diese Arten nicht kritisch mit denen Indiens u. von anderen Ländern vergleichen. Von allen Pflanzen sind diese schönen Utricularien diejenigen, welche nach getrockneten Exemplaren am schwierigsten zu bestimmen sind, denn die zarten Blüthentheile lassen sich nicht wieder aufweichen. Wenn es nicht so mühsam wäre, würde ich Sie bitten, auch von den Utricularia-Arten Blüthen in Alcohol zu senden, u. auch Frucht-Exemplare; die letzteren könnten einfach getrocknet werden wie gewöhnlich zwischen Papier. Ich werde Ihnen aber in nächster Woche die Namen mehrerer Ihrer Utricularia-Arten senden.

Ich schrieb bereits, dass ich die Felsen-Verbenacee Clerodendron Holtzei genannt habe. Die Beschreibung geht eben jetzt an die Royal Society of N.S.W.

Size as for U. exoleta, but the characters in some respects more like U. flexuosa. It may be a new species, but these species cannot be critically compared with those of India and other countries without fruits with ripe seeds. Of all plants these lovely Utriculariae are the ones most difficult to identify from dried specimens, because the delicate floral parts cannot be resoaked. If it were not so troublesome, I would ask you to send flowers in alcohol also of the Utricularia species, also fruiting specimens; the latter could be simply dried between paper as usual. Next week, however, I shall send you the names of several of your Utricularia species.

I have already written that I called the rock-dwelling Verbenacea Clerodendron holtzei.1 The description is just being sent off to the Royal Society of New South Wales.2

The species name is given in a letter fragment, M to M. Holtze, June 1890 (in this edition as 90-06-00a), where it is associated with two Holtze collection numbers, 802 (MEL98250, dated by M on his label as '1889') and 995 (MEL 98245, dated by M on his label as '1890').
