Launceston1
25th July 1890
Baron F. von Mueller
Dear Sir
Under separate cover I am sending you a few small pieces of fertile frond from the Cyathea of which I wrote to you some time ago.2 There has been some difficulty in procuring fronds with fruit from the smaller specimens but the gentleman who procured them for me managed to secure them from the tall specimen by means of a rifle.
The longest piece enclosed was taken from a small specimen, but the small piece is from the large specimen, of which you have the photo, as you will see they are of the same species. I hope these will be sufficient for the purpose of indentification.
I shall be glad to hear from you at your convenience.
I remain
Yours
W. McGowan
