Let me offer my felicitation, dear Mr Turner, to your new position,1 which you are sure to sustain with efficiency, and which in a long series of years, — likely before you, — you will turn to extensive utility!
The "Key to the system of Vict plants"2 is purchasable either at the Melbourne Gov Printing Office or at Mr Mullen's Establishment for the sale of books in Collins-Street Melbourne. I have no monetary interest in the issue or sale, nor have I copies to give away except on private purchase of my own, I purchase annually over £50 - - worth of my own works out of my own slender purse for giving away3 altho' the Government here causes such works to be distributed through the public Library in interchanges. Surely some Sydney Bookseller might keep a few copies in stock of such a work, as it applies to N.S.W. and would sell well there too largely also. It is not expensive. Sechium edule I grew into fruit 25 years ago also at Melbourne; but I am not likely to get much public credit for that, nor for anything else, recorded in the "Select plants" "Wattle-Report"4 &c &c
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
