From Ferdinand von Mueller to Maurice Holtze   4 Aug 1890

797 Ihrer Sammlung, lieber Herr Holtze, is Cynanchum pedunculatum, RBr.

No. 7971 of your collection, dear Mr Holtze, is Cynanchum pedunculatum, RBr. The flowers on your specimen are finely dotted, something which I have not noticed in others. I would like to advise you always to make notes with the help of your son2 about the kind of soil of each species, the flowering time, scent, colour of the flowers etc.

After some time you could publish a paper of your own with such notes, as far as you have received the names.

It is not necessary that each of your plants has to be named first, which is impossible in some cases until we know the ripe fruits.

Honouring you your

Ferd. von Mueller

Supplements will have to follow anyway.

Cynanchum pedunculatum

In M to M. Holtze 1889 (in this edition as 89-00-00n), M tentatively identified the specimen as an Ipomoea and asked for fruit.

Nicholas Holtze.
