To Walter Gill   9 August 1890

9/8/90

Let me offer my best felicitation, dear Mr Gill, to your promotion, so well deserved.1 You will fill the important position with dignity and efficiency. When you write to Mr Brown, kindly convey to him also my congratulation, and express to him my readiness, to afford him also in his new position any information, which he may seek from me and which may be within my reach. I am pleased at the prospect of you advancing, while now in supreme command, still more extensively our knowledge of the S.A. plants.

The one, just received, N. 101, is Styphelia patula, Sprengel. It was only known from the coast before and then merely from a few places.

Regardfully

yours

Ferd. von Mueller.
