Ratisbonae, X. X. MDCCCLXXXX.

The Royal Botanical Society of Regensburg, established on 15 May 1790 to promote the study of botany, has enrolled among its honorary members the most noble lord Ferdinand von Mueller of Melbourne, doctor of philosophy and medicine, professor and director of the botanic garden, knight, most skilled in Australian botany.

Director Dr. Singer

Secretary Dr. Fürnrohr

At Regensburg 10. 10.1 1890.

'X' probably is to be translated literally here as 'December'; see Royal Botanical Society of Regensburg to M, 21 December 1890.

MS is an illustrated certificate that bears the insignia and shield of the Society with its motto, 'Concordia res parvae crescunt' [Through harmony small things grow] above it. The motto comes from Sallust, Jugurtha, 10.6, of which there are many editions (see, for example, Sallust (1849), p. 46).
