2nd April [18]911
Baron Sir F. Von Mueller K.C.MG.
President, Victorian Branch.
Melbourne Victoria.
My dear Baron
I am desired by our Council to convey to you its thanks for your telegrams concerning Dr Elliott & the "Second in Command",2 and generally for the interest you have taken, and the work done by you in this same connection.
It is deemed desirable to obtain (if possible) for "Second" a practical man experienced in travel in Central Australia, and a qualified Surveyor.
Every endeavour is being made to get the party into the field at an early date. The camels are ready, & upon the arrival of the Scientific members of the party, an early start will, we hope, be effected.3
I am Sir
Yours very faithfully
A. T. Magarey
Joint Hon Secretary
