Sir

I have the honor to forward herewith a parcel of shrub obtained from the ranges near Euroa,2 and which, when rubbed between the hands, emits a very pleasant odour

Will you kindly furnish me with the name of the plant and whether, in your opinion, it would be useful for the production of scent

I have the honor to be,

Sir

Your most obedient Servant,

D E Martin

Secretary for Agriculture

Baron Sir F. von Mueller K.C.M.G.

Govt Botanist

South Yarra

MS bears the decorative insignia of the Department and is numbered 57537.

Vic.

MS found at MEL but original location not recorded; probably removed in the past from MEL 86462, a specimen of Calytrix tetragona collected near Euroa in 1891 of which Martin is shown as collector, described by M on his herbarium label as 'pleasantly odorous'. MS annotation by M: 'Answ 18/4/91'; letter not found.
