To Edward Ramsay   13 May 1891

13/5/91

I think, dear Dr Ramsay, that I sent you a book on nebular theory, of which the author J. Spottiswoode Wilson, a former travelling companion of mine, appointed by Sir Rod. Murchison sent me some Copies.1 Uncautiously I sent them out, before I had read them, and now find to my horror, that the book contains some irreligious passages in the worst of wordings. Should you therefore have received this highly objectionable book, please destroy it. You will be aware that I am a strict adherent to christian faith.

Regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller

J. S. Wilson travelled as geologist on the North Australian Exploring Expedition, 1855-6. The book in question was presumably Wilson (1890).
