My dear Sir

I this day forward by parcels delivery my annual consignment of Victorian Marine Algae and a small parcel for the great and venerable Professor at Lund2 — You will note among the specimens Notheia anomala Harv. growing as a parasite upon Incodium chondrophyllum3 — I do not know that it has ever before been found on any plant except Hormosira Banksii and the remarks made on the subject by Harvey in his Phycologica Australica vol IV. plate ccxiii make this discovery peculiarly interesting.4

Believe me to remain

Yours very sincerely

J Bracebridge Wilson

Fucodium chondrophyllum?

Harvey wrote: 'This little plant abounds wherever Hormosira Banksii grows commonly, and is always strictly parasitical upon that species, being the only known Fucoid which is truly a parasite' (Harvey (1858-63), vol. 4, comments on Plate CCXIII, Notheia anomala).

MS annotation by M: 'Answ 24/5/91'. Letter not found.
