Entschuldigen Sie, edler Freund, dass ich Sie wieder störe mit einer wissenschaftlichen Anfrage. Nach welchem Hansen ist das Genus Hansenia von Turczaninow dedicirt? Ich habe seinen Catalog der Baical-Dahurica Pfl. nicht, in welchen darüber Auskunft sein muss. Im Bulletin de la Soc. Imp. de Mosc. ist nichts über die Persönlichkeit des Taufkindes vom Gevatter gesagt, u Walpers druckte einfach vom Bulletin ab. Die Sache mag Ihnen geringfügig erscheinen; aber ich habe eben eine neue Dodonaea meinem Freund L Hansen von Huesbye gewidmet, mit dem ich im Beginn der vierziger Jahre dieses Jahrhunderts viel wegen Pfl. des Herzogthums Schleswig verkehrte, u dessen Andenken ich nun doch noch, ehe ich aus dem Leben scheide, ein botan. Denkmal setzen möchte. Freilich ist Hansenia des Turcz. in Ligusticum inserirt, u so nicht länger ein Monument bleibend in der Litteratur für irgend Jemand; aber es interessirt mich doch zu wissen, ob der Skandinavier Hansen gemeint war in der Benennung des Genus des Mosk. Botanikers. Ich bewundere Ihre geistige Frische u physische Lebenskraft: Ich werde längst vor Ihnen dahin sein!

Könnte doch einer Ihrer Untergebenen in ruhiger langer Winterzeit eine einfache Liste der Pflanzen Russlands zusammen stellen, etwa nach der Vorlage in meinem austral Pflanzen Census? Es würde selbst dort die Arbeiten an Pfl Russlands sehr erleichtern, u in Ausser-Russland uns Allen eine grosse Hülfe sein für Orientirung[.] Ich könnte ohne den Census hier mit Sicherheit kaum fortarbeiten! Sereno Watson beabsichtigt etwas Ähnliches für die Vereins Staaten zu thun. —

Nyman giebt uns freilich für das europ Russland eine (nicht leichte) Übersicht

Wittstein 1856 sagt noch nichts über Hansenia, obwohl das Bulletin schon 1844 den Namen giebt.

Forgive me, noble friend, that I trouble you again with a scientific question. To which Hansen did Turczaninow dedicate the genus Hansenia?¹ I do not have his Catalogue of the Baical-Dahurica plants,² which must contain this information. The godfather says nothing about the personality of the child being baptised in the Bulletin de la Société Imperiale des Naturalistes du Moscou, and Walpers simply reprinted from the Bulletin.³ The matter may seem trifling to you; but I have just dedicated a new Dodonaea ⁴ to my friend L. Hansen of Huesbye, with whom I corresponded much in the early forties of this century about plants of the Duchy of Schleswig, and to whose memory I would still like to erect a botanical memorial before I depart this life. Of course, Hansenia Turcz. has been placed in Ligusticum ⁵ and thus no longer remains in the literature as a memorial to anyone. But I am still interested to learn, if the Scandinavian Hansen was meant in the dedication of the genus by the Moscow botanist. I admire your mental vigour and your physical vitality: I will be gone long before you!

Could not one of your subordinates put together during the long quiet winter months a simple list of the plants of Russia, something after the fashion of my Australian census of plants?⁶ It would even very much facilitate the work on Russian plants there, and be a great help in orientation for all of us outside Russia. I could hardly continue working here with any certitude without the Census! Sereno Watson intends to produce something similar for the United States.⁷.

Nyman, of course, gives us a (not easy) synopsis for European Russia.⁸

Wittstein 1856⁹ still says nothing about Hansenia, even though the Bullletin published the name already in 1844.
