From Ferdinand von Mueller to Alexander Morton   11 Jan 1892

In bidding farewell to the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, and in thanking all for the extraordinary attentiveness shown me here, may the opinion be expressed that the Hobart meeting will pre-eminently and lastingly exercise an influence on the advancement of science, especially in Her Majesty's Australian dominions, and will among a long series of annual gatherings connect the cheering results of the past with those of a gloriously progressive future not only for substantial gains and intellectual achievements, but also for the maintenance and advancement of Christian reverence in the paths of knowledge.
