From Ferdinand von Mueller to Nicholas Holtze   22 Feb 1892

22/2/92

As I just think of it, dear Mr Holtze, I like to say, that I am still eager, to obtain good specimens of Cochlospermum Fraseri from Melville-Island.1It is said, to differ from C. heteronemum in a velvety inflorescence or have you perhaps seen that species also with tomentose calyces pedicels and peduncles?

I hope, that you and your brother2 will continue to collect, especially when the drought will break. The longer it has lasted, the sooner it must cease.

I hope, that you will distribute in the cool season the roots of Panicum spectabile extensively, and let the recipients know, that it came from me. Such continued acknowledgments will be a support to my Department, now particularly, when its working expenses have been reduced to ¼. — not less than ¾ having been taken of.3

I suppose, you know some one in Melville Isl, to whom you could write.

Regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller
