From Ferdinand von Mueller to Nicholas Holtze   16 May 1892

16/5/92

Am not sure, dear Mr Holtze, whether I mentioned to you, that still an other Calophyllum from your vicinity requires to be elucidated. It is N. 381 of your fathers2 early collections, a small-leaved species, near C. tomentosum I have it only in fruit, so that I cannot settle its position in the system until I have flowers. The genus has many south-asiatic species, of which those of nearest affinity must be compared in a study of this small-leaved one. I have received nothing from you for a long time. If you would only send even some few select specimens occasionally by post, it would give me great pleasure in my advanced age, when I cannot perhaps much longer experience such joys.

Regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller

Many of your plants are on my working table here yet unnamed, but either the flowers or the fruits are wanting yet, so that I cannot do anything with safety in describing them.
