Dear Baron,

I have just received the specimen you have kindly sent me of Randia spinuligera F.v.M.2 It is unfortunate that you had not referred to my publications for the same plant I published last year under the name of Randia tuberculosa and specimens I sent to you among the Bellenden Ker plants n. 29.3 I feel sorry that you ignore my work. As colonial Botanist of Queensland it is my duty to collect describe and publish the flora and this I do to the best of my ability, prior to my appointment I cared not who named & described so long as the work was done. I work hard and take a deep interest in my work, but if you will not acknowledge the work I cannot help it — you will remember that few of my plants appear in your Census of Australian plants.4 And my work upon the New Guinea handed to me by Sir W MacGregor I have heard nothing about since I sent them on to you a copy of your report5 I think should have reached me long ere this. No one can have a higher opinion of you as a botanist but I dont think you treat me as a friend and fellow worker in the Science

Yours very truly

F M Bailey
