Dear Baron

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has just passed on to me the packet of seeds and the herbarium of Australian plants that you have kindly offered to the Museum of Natural History.1

I have the honour of expressing to you my lively thanks for this new evidence of the interest you take in increasing the scientific riches of our great National Institution.

I am, Dear Baron,

Yours very sincerely,

The Director of the Museum

f. 46 in the same letter-copy book is a copy of a letter from Milne-Edwards to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, acknowledging receipt of M’s package and asking the Minister to thank the Consul-General in Melbourne for his help in this matter.

Letter not found. The text is taken from a letter-copy book kept by the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris. The copy is extremely faint and, as a result, some readings are uncertain.
