From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Advocate   [Dec 1892]

The 'burr-clover' just sent from Nooramunga1 is the Medicago Arabica. It is not a desirable plant to cultivate, as the burr will deteriorate wool, to which it readily adheres. It is, moreover, irritating to pasture animals generally, by sticking to them. The plant is nutritious, but even in that respect its only annual duration renders it far less valuable than any perennial pasture herbs. This plant passes under two other botanic names, M. Cordata and M. Maculata. —Ferd. von Mueller, Government Botanist.
