To William Haswell1    9 January 1893

9/1/93.

It is my intention, dear Prof. Haswell, to furnish as a contribution to the M'Leay’s memorial volume2 a brief article, by which the results of the third Census of Australian plants, so far as the entries could hitherto be made, are brought out by 3 years work. The time for the 3th Census will only be 1896;3 but as half the period between the 2. & 3. has elapsed, this interim-record should be worthy of the pages, for which it is destined, it having at all events the merit of being absolutely original and being readable to anyone also.

Will you be so good, to tell me, by what date you require the article, as it seems, that you like, to place it in first instance before the L. S.4 of N.SW.

With best new-years felicitation

Your

Ferd. von Mueller.
