To Joseph Fletcher   2 March 1893

2/3/93

As you are short of msc.,1 dear Mr Fletcher, I forward the statistic tables of my intended essay; for even if time became not available to me for elaborating the general remarks from the brief notes written already, these statistic data would be complete in themselves.2 You will see that this brings up the data of the Second Census of Australian plants to the end of 1892; and as the third Census is not likely to appear before 1895, this interim information, giving the results of the last 3 years should just now be of considerable interest.3

Always regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

manuscript.
See M to J. Fletcher, 24 February 1893 (in this edition as 93-02-24a). M's essay was intended to be published in the memorial volume being prepared by the Royal Society of NSW in honour of Sir William Macleay. It did not, however, appear there, but was eventually published elsewhere (cf. B93.06.02, B93.07.03, B93.08.01). See also M to J. Fletcher, 29 March 1893.
The proposed third edition of M’s Census was never published.
