From Ferdinand von Mueller to Donald Clark   1 Apr 1893

[A collection of seeds new to the colony, consisting of fodder, fibre, scent, fixed oil and pulse plant seeds, has been received by the director of the Bairnsdale School of Mines from Baron Von Mueller for planting at the experimental farm at Wy Yung.]1

Another report in Gippsland times, 10 May 1893, p. [3], col. b, almost certainly of the same consignment but referred to simply as 'economic plants', reports that anyone wanting to test their capacity for cultivation in the district 'can obtain small samples on application to the science director'.

Letter not found. The text given here is from Bairnsdale advertiser and Tambo and Omeo chronicle, 4 May 1893, p. [2], col. c. It is dated to 1 April as the latest likely date that the consignment could have been received and the information reported to the newspaper.
