From Ferdinand von Mueller to Annie Walker   24 Apr 1893

24/4/93.

I think, dear Miss Walker, that the letter, sent by me to Miss Cole,1 will be sufficient recommendation for your purposes. If I am asked by Dr Cox2 or any one else about the value of your collections, I can follow up further the recommendation. The picture of your Granduncle3 and his Companions crossing the Blue Mountains is most impressive. Will you on your return kindly look, whether the fringe flowered Grass-Lily, Thysanotus tuberosus from the Blue Mountains has the leaves so short and broad, as depicted by you. Here the leaves are always much longer and narrower. Possibly 2 species have been confused under that name. In that case the seeds of the two would likely also be different. In the haste a wrong species-name was put to the Ptilotus; it is not P. obovatus but P. exaltatus (Nees). I obtained several additional notes from the last 3 parcels, and made several corrections of names thereon.

With regardful remembrance your

Ferd von Mueller

I hope you will honor me with letters from N.S.W.
