To William Thiselton-Dyer   31 May 1893

31/5/93.1

The byefollowing letter explains itself, dear Dr Dyer, and I send to you this copy,2 that you may see, how matters are getting on as regards the continuation of the Flora Australiensis.3 This attempted intrusion on my litterary position is a great worry to me. I am engaged, to get all notes now into order for the continuing volume, though some few years more postponement would bring the work more to finality. Sir Joseph Hooker must also feel, that hurrying on unnecessarily a supplement to the "genera"4 would soon again need supplementing.

I cannot learn, that Dr Prentice publicly corrected his printed misstatements about the subsidies to Bentham for the Flora Australiensis notwithstanding my telegraphic demand5

With regardful remembrance

your

Ferd. von Mueller.
