The Port Fairy correspondent for the Warrnambool standard reported: 'There have been received, through Baron von Mueller, applications from distant places for seeds or plants of the Marram-grass, from Natal, South Africa, and from Western Australia and New Zealand. Mr. S. Avery, an expert in its plantation and growth, has prepared directions as to its cultivation, and the photos prepared by him, showing its growth and habit, are highly esteemed by all who have been supplied with and successfully established under his directions, this magnificent stay grass.'
