From Ferdinand von Mueller to Charles Wild   [July 1893]

[Mr. C. J. Wild exhibited fruiting specimens of a Jungermannia named Dendroceros, found growing upon the branches and trunks of trees at Mount Tambourine, and which agreed in every particular with Queensland examples of a species of the genus kindly communicated by Baron von Mueller, and which it was thought represented Stephani's species Dendroceros Muelleri.1]

Dendroceros Muelleri

Described in Stephani (1889), p. 133, from collections by William Sayer from the Bellenden Ker Range in 1886.

Letter not found. The text given here is from Brisbane courier, 24 July 1893, p. 2, col. g, a report of a meeting of the Natural History Society of Queensland 'held recently'. On the assumption that the meeting was in July, the letter is dated to July as the latest the specimens could have been sent. Charles James Wild (1853-1923) identified in Franks (2019).
