The Hussey specimen with this number at MEL is listed as Potamogeton crispus, dated 1894; Hibbertia stricta is not a synonym.
Number not used in MEL. A different species of Acaena was sent as record no. 402; see M to J. Hussey, June 1895 (in this edition as 95-06-00g).
There is no Hussey specimen with this number in MEL. It has been used below for Scabiosa atropurpurea.
The number in the Hussey collection at MEL is used for the unrelated Rhodanthe moschata.
There are three Hussey specimens at MEL with this number: Maireana pyramidata and Sclerolaena brevifolia, each dated 1894, and an undated Silene gallica. In the determination lists, the number was used for the alga Caulerpa in M to J. Hussey, November 1893 (in this edition as 93-11-00l) and an un-numbered specimen was commented on in M to J. Hussey, May 1895 (in this edition as 95-05-00j); neither specimen is identifiable in the collection at MEL.
There are two Hussey specimens with this number at MEL: Asteraceae, dated 1894, and Distichlis distichophylla, dated 1895 (see M to J. Hussey, March 1895 (in this edition as 95-03-00h)).
There is no Hussey specimen with this number in MEL.

Above this entry the typescript includes '86. Epacris impressa | 85. Calycothrix tetragona' with a note '[86. & 85. added in by Jessie Hussey from previous letter]'. However, numbers '86' and '85' and 'Epacris impressa' are found only in this item, here and immediately above the valediction. 'Calycothrix tetragona' is also found as no. 342 in the later M to J. Hussey, January 1895 (in this edition as 95-01-00g). It appears that there were letters to Hussey not preserved in her archive, an interpretation consistent with the number of record numbers used twice in this sheet that do not appear on other sheets in the series.

Item is a typescript, transcriber unknown, prepared ca. 1977 from an original MS in the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide.
Many record numbers have been used more than once for specimens at MEL, and many on the list are not now in MEL (AVH, accessed 4 August 2024; checks for synonyms were made using APC, accessed 15 August 2023). The dated specimens that matched M's determinations or those for which his names are synonyms are given as '1893'. The earliest dated letter in the correspondence with Hussey dealing with vascular plants is M to J. Hussey, 19 November 1893. That letter indicates that she had answered the question about Logania crassifolia posed here in a letter that had arrived shortly before M wrote. Although Hussey used the same determination numbers more than once, the evidence of the previous lists (M to J. Hussey 1893 (in this edition as 93-00-00j) and M to J. Hussey 1893 (in this edition as 93-00-00k)) indicates that this is the third list prepared naming Hussey's specimens. It is dated to October as the latest it could have been written to enable a reply to his question to have been received before 19 November.
