From Joseph Maiden to Ferdinand von Mueller   13 Oct 1893

TECHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM, SYDNEY.

MEMO. from the CURATOR to

13th Oct: 1893

Dear Baron von Mueller,

The Casuarina Cones I send you from the Bega district1 appear to be C. suberosa, the foliage, shape of seed & cones all point that way. But I do not remember having ever seen any suberosa so large. Have you?

Will you kindly tell me if the scrappy Medicago (in flower & early fruit) is M. scutellata, All.? I have not access here to literature on Trifolium, Medicago & other leguminous genera, and hence I must trouble you.

Yours Sincerely,

J. H. Maiden.

Casuarina suberosa

Medicago scutellata

Trifolium

NSW.

MS found with a specimen of Medicago orbicularis (MEL 9507). MS annotation by M: 'Answ 15/10/93'. Letter not found.
