From Ferdinand von Mueller to Ralph Tate   16 Oct 1893

16/10/93

I feel, dear President, that I should at all events write you some few lines, if I did not get ready msc. by this months meeting of your R.S., 1 but I am still very weak after my last illness, from which indeed I have not yet fully recovered. Within the last days some time (beyond that required for the heavy daily routine-work) was taken up by the study and naming of more paintings of Mrs Capt Rowan;2 and altho' I have pondered over Abutilon, and have done something for Verticordia the detail specific investigations are most time taking I have had very severe work all through the year and feel very fatigued. These Expedition-plants must however soon be from my hands, as I can otherwise do not do3 justice to the progress of the suppl. volume of the Flora.4 Through overwork I suffer also much from insomnia, and that is also very weakening.

Let me felicitate you to all your triumphs! Have you any influence with Mr Rasp?5 I thought he might support extensively a new Leichhardt-search, for which he would have glory and reward.

With friendship your

Ferd von Mueller
