To William Thiselton-Dyer   10 November 1893

10/11/93.1

My position to the LeMans Academy,2 dear Dr Dyer, could be by you and Sir Joseph so little understood, that it will be best for me to send a duplicate of my last mails letter,3 lest the original should happen not to reach you. When suddenly called on to take the Direction for 1893 I could not forsee the troubles which arose. My position has been so much one international, that I took the offer for that reason, and certainly not for any “grandezza”.4

I feel sure Sir Joseph and you will not take an unjust view of this affair, after the information now offered.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller
