Since you, highly esteemed friend, have worked on the Rubiaceae of South America,1 I would like to ask you to tell me whether the genus Euosmia HBK. is permanent. J. Hooker knew it just from the figure. Martius Flora Brasiliana is not available here, except some few parts in my library.
I again feel myself indebted to you for lichenological papers. Your capacity for work remains undiminished. But before it sinks in the late autumn of your life, I would just like to ask again at least for a synopsis of all lichens of the world by you from your incomparable experiences.
Respectfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
