From James Thomson to Ferdinand von Mueller   27 Nov 1893

27. 11. [189]31

Dear Baron von Mueller,

I laid your letter of the 3rd. inst.2 before Mr Gregory & I ventured to read it at one of the meetings of the local committee of the Australasian Association,3 but unfortunately it was not received by the latter in the same noble & generous feeling in which was written. Mr B. 4 I find is a very strange man to deal with; he thinks those who try to help him are doing so from unfriendly motives & consequently it is difficult to approach him in any way. Mr Gregory knows this & he thinks it better to let things rest as they are at present.

I am sorry to say that it is impossible for me to get a reply to my letters written to the Secretary of the Geographical section of the Association in Adelaide.5 I have written him several letters about my lantern slides6 but can get no reply whatever, although the matter is very important.

With kind regards,

dear Baron von Mueller

very faithfully yours

J. P. Thomson

Baron Sir Ferd von Mueller
