[In a letter I lately received from Baron von Mueller, the Government Botanist, he states that the want of local oil mills has been the chief cause why oil seeds have not been cultivated in the colony. He strongly urges the establishing of oil mills1]
M had made the same point in M to J. Shiilinglaw, 5 June 1886, in the context of the Royal Commission on Vegetable Products.
Letter found. The text given here is from 'The cultivation of oil-producing plants. II', the second part of the text of a paper read before the Victorian Chamber of Commerce on 16 April 1894 (Bairnsdale advertiser and Tambo and Omeo chronicle, 22 May 1894), p. 4; the first part was published by the newspaper on 19 May 1994, p. 4. A report of Inskip's paper in Argus, 17 April 1894, p. 3, and copied in other regional papers, is in the third person, and does not indicate that M's information was in a letter.
