From Ferdinand von Mueller to Ignatz Urban   [1894]

[Plantam Ramageanam ad speciem Bergianam pertinere e descriptione vix [i]nteliigi1 potest. Sed folium, flores et icon ab ill. Barone de Mueller ex herb. Sonderiano nunc Melbournensi benevole mecum communicata rem in dubio non relinquunt.]

[That the Ramagean plant pertains to the Bergian species2 can scarcely be understood from the description. But the leaf, flowers and picture from the Sonder herbarium now in Melbourne that have been kindly communicated to me by the illustrious Baron von Mueller do not leave the matter in any doubt.]

Initial letter omitted in printing.

George Ramage collected in the West Indies and supplied Urban with material of this species from Fonds St Jacques, at altitudes between 300 m. and 600 m. Urban refers to the description by O. Berg (1854-61), vol. 27, p. 23, species no. 20.

Letter not found. The text given here is from Urban (1895), p. 593, in the entry for Calyptranthes forsteri from St Lucia. The section of Urban's article in which the text appears is in Heft V, issued on 28 February 1895. M's letter is dated to 1894 as the latest that it could have been sent to have been referred to there.
