Lassen Sie meinen besten Dank ausgesprochen sein, hochgeehrter Herr Dr Nordstedt, für Ihre Güte, über die Malereien des Hr Bäuerlen von Desmidiaceen Auskunft gegeben zu haben durch Vermittlung unseres Freundes Prof van Heurck.
Ich wusste von diesen Bildern nichts bis solche mir aus dem technol. Museum in Sydney zugesandt wurden; sonst hätte ich selbstverständlich darauf gedrungen, dass Bäuerlen auch original Material präparire und mitschickte, was zu thun ich einem Diatomeen Forscher in Melbourne anrieth.
In letzterer Zeit ist mir kein neues Material von Characeen zugekommen.

Let my best thanks be expressed, highly esteemed Dr Norstedt, for your kindness in having given information about the paintings of Mr Bäuerlen of Desmidiaceae through the agency of our friend Professor van Heurck.
I knew nothing of these pictures until they were sent to me from the Technological Museum in Sydney; otherwise I would of course have insisted on Bäuerlen preparing original material and sending it as well, which I advised a diatom researcher in Melbourne1 to do.
No new material of Characeae has come to me recently
